متن کاملTHE ROLE OF QUARK POLARIZATION IN HEAVY QUARK FRAGMENTATION
We calculate the exact fragmentation functions for c and b quark fragmentation taking into account the spin orientation of the initial heavy quark in the form of analytical and rather simple expressions. Our calculations show that spin orientation may have an important effect on the fragmentation spectrum. This effect is more striking in the cases of c ?D, D*; c? ? , ? , and ?B , B *.
متن کاملTransverse momentum distributions for heavy quark pairs.
We study the transverse momentum distribution for a pair of heavy quarks produced in hadron-hadron interactions. Predictions for the large transverse momentum region are based on exact order αs QCD perturbation theory. For the small transverse momentum region, we use techniques for all orders resummation of leading logarithmic contributions associated with initial state soft gluon radiation. Th...
متن کاملHeavy Quark Diffusion from the Lattice
Abstract We study the diffusion of heavy quarks in the Quark Gluon Plasma using the Langevin equations of motion and estimate the contribution of the transport peak to the Euclidean current-current correlator. We show that the Euclidean correlator is remarkably insensitive to the heavy quark diffusion coefficient and give a simple physical interpretation of this result using the free streaming ...
متن کاملNonperturbative heavy-quark diffusion in the quark-gluon plasma.
We evaluate heavy-quark (HQ) transport properties in a quark-gluon plasma (QGP) within a Brueckner many-body scheme employing interaction potentials extracted from thermal lattice QCD. The in-medium T matrices for elastic charm- and bottom-quark scattering off light quarks in the QGP are dominated by attractive meson and diquark channels which support resonance states up to temperatures of ~1.5...
